Kokkikartano recognized for its safety work – on the path to world leading

,

Snellmanin Kokkikartano received a well-deserved recognition, in early April, for its long-term and systematic efforts to promote safety at work, when the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health’s “The Vision Zero Forum” published occupational safety level classifications for its member workplaces. Kokkikartano was the only representative in its industry to receive a rating and achieved Level III. The name of the level is “On the path to world leading”.

–    This is a wonderful recognition of the work we have done. Every one of our employees has contributed to this, so this is a recognition for all of us. It also shows that our efforts have paid off, and we will continue them, because every accident is one too many, comments Tea Tilander, Production Director at Snellmanin Kokkikartano.

This year, a record number of workplaces —145 in Finland— received safety level classification from the Finnish Institute of Occupational Health, and as many as 60 workplaces achieved the zero-accident goal. Recognitions are awarded at Levels I, II, and III.

The Finnish Institute of Occupational Health says in its press release that workplaces that have received a level classification are united by visible and consistent safety work. There are regular safety walks at the workplaces to examine factors such as equipment safety, ergonomics and cleanliness. The management also actively participates in safety walks and engages in discussions with the personnel.

Occupational safety has been a key theme in the whole Snellman Group over the past years, and the work has brought results. In 2025, safety observations were up by 40% from the previous year. Our Lost Time Accident Frequency (LTAF) fell again by more than 30% from the previous year to 16.04 (31 Dec 2024: 25.02) at the end of the year 2025. The safety figures encourage us to keep up the good work and to continue to further improve occupational safety in the coming years.
