Sustainability

Our actions are based on measurable targets and continuous improvement

We develop our operations in line with our environmental, animal welfare and people-related targets. We promote animal welfare through measurable targets, such as 100% free-farrowing by 2028. All our cattle farms are part of Naseva, the Finnish national health monitoring system for cattle farms, and, for example, in our rearing units we focus on providing soft, dry bedding and on improving the early rearing of calves through, amongst other things, enrichment and opportunities for outdoor exercise.

FY2025

Measuring environmental impacts: environmental impacts are measured throughout the entire supply chain, and key reduction measures are identified on the basis of the measurement results. The Carbo environmental calculator is used to measure farm-specific environmental impacts on cattle farms, in collaboration with a partner on pig farms, and the climate impacts of the company and its entire value chain are measured in accordance with the GHG Protocol (Greenhouse Gas Protocol).

Long-term business development is a key part of the company’s success and operational continuity in a changing operating environment. Environmental, personnel, animal welfare and quality issues form part of our day-to-day business operations through our strategic objectives and the monitoring and development of these.

The entire Group shares a common goal, which our business units put into practice every day in their own operations:

More sustainably produced food enables a better future for everyone

By developing our operations on the basis of continuous measurement, monitoring and targets, we ensure that the Snellman Group remains a successful and innovative family business that offers consumers high-quality products through our trusted brands.

Our sustainability work’s base and targets
